This is a basic overview and how-to of and for the Archlord alchemy system that allows you to morph into other creatures with various abilities. This guide was originally posted by Ventral.
Skills
Alchemy is pivoted on the skills of skinning of ransacking. Alchemy itself can be acquired at level 15 from an Alchemist. All the recipes are also acquired at the Alchemist as well as the option to buy patterns witch increase the success rate of the pattern it applies to. As Nicod3mus stated in his guide, fail rates for ransacking and skinning are incredibly high if you don't get em leveled up on lower level mobs, so doing this is pretty important for this trade skill.
Application
The usefulness of alchemy is a very mixed bag. On the one hand you have potions that give you 50%-60% speed increases. These are very handy as a substitute for the next to useless speed potions and the expensive mounts, at least temporarily. Because there is a considerable cooldown between uses they aren't a 100% replacement, just a substitution. Everything else is more for entertainment. All potions give some kind of + attack. Some also give + defence or health points. There are also a few higher level ones that have a speed reduction. This sounds great but unfortunately when in metamorphosis form, abilities are disabled, including trade skills. For a caster this is brutal, and not very useful, how it applies to a melee class I'm not sure, but I can't imagine the benefit be better when weighed against the time required to get potions with decent upgrades.
Bottom Line
Alchemy takes a lot of time and the benefits don't warrant losing your ability to use special attacks. The wolf potion from level 3 alchemy giving a 58% speed upgrade is easily attainable, and the only real practical one I've seen. Unless you have a desire to turn into a dragon and scare some noobs away, you're better off leveling to 3, stocking up some wolf potions and taking up cooking.
